Check-In: 2018-04-10

Yesterday:

Health: Stretching and exercise in the morning and a walk to the store in the afternoon.

Job/BC: (Merging these because they are becoming one and the same) Discussed some logistics with my friends in Kelowna.

Misc: Taxes are done! Ugh. Also laundry.

Today:

Health: Not much.

Job/BC: Applied at a game studio in Kelowna. Discussed logistics of a move next month with friends & family.

Misc: Not much.

Honestly, I think for today I'll take the job application as a win, because Overwatch just put out a major patch so I might be playing quite a bit today. :) But hey, every day that I make a job application is an automatic win in my books.

Check-In 2018-04-06

For the last few days...

Health: Not much. Got out to Costo but could probably do with more exercise soon. :)

Job/BC: Looked on the Accelerate Okanagan board a little bit today. Need to do more.

Misc: Costco run! Actually kind of fun and efficient.

Check-In 2018-04-03

Health: Meditation & stretching over the weekend. Walked to the grocery store this afternoon.

Writing: I am actually going to remove this field. The problem with making it mandatory is it creates a guilt-driven motivation rather than a fun-driven one. So my goal is instead to create space for me to write in.

Job: Applied to a company in BC.

BC: Applied to a company in BC.

Misc: Groceries. Also picked up some tax software (Turbotax) so I can do my own filing this year. Should be an easy return, so this might save a chunk of change.

New Round of Check-Ins

Construction downtown. Well, destruction downtown.

Today is the first Monday of being back in Edmonton, and I tried to act a little bit Monday about it. I got a bunch of walking done, renewed my driver's license, did some banking, and did a little shopping.

Last time I was unemployed, I did regular check-ins, so I think I'm going to do so again. However, my mental health is really good right now, so rather than focusing on that, I'm instead going to focus on these categories, in rough order of priority:

Health - Because it's always good to take care of this.

Writing - Because that's what I'm going to try to do now, so I should do it. :)

Job - Because I need to pay the bills somehow.

BC - Because I need to figure out where I'm living this fall.

Misc - Because there's always something.

Today's report:

Health - I did a bunch of walking all afternoon!

Writing - Not yet. I will try to at least write a paragraph or two before I relax for the evening.

Job - Nothing today.

BC - This evening I'll be talking to Amber and Jason about housing out their way.

Misc - Banking, license renewal, and starting these check-ins.

So it looks like I should ideally focus on Writing and Job more tomorrow. I don't think it's feasible to try to hit all categories every day. I just want to make sure they don't get forgotten. If I fail to focus on something for multiple days in a row, I'll put a counter next to it so I can see it getting stale. Then I can still decide to focus on things however I want, but I'll be able to see when a category may need a little extra love and attention.

Well, Here I Am

I am back in Edmonton now, safe and sound.

First up, some pictures that didn't make it into last week's post about climbing the mountain:

The journey begins...

There! We go there!

This wasn't on the map!

A rest on the way up.

Worth it!

...

Home again. Hound happy.

And there's cake!

And now, some scenes of Edmonton, including my blooming Christmas cactus:

Climbing A Mountain

I am a bit too tired to write a proper post right now, but in the meantime, here are some pictures that I took while Mark and I climbed Mount Douglas today. Most of it was more hiking than climbing, but there were some climby bits too.

Final Stretch

There's not quite as many blooming flowers so far this year due to the unusually chilly February (hahahahahahahaha) which resulted in frost and snow a couple of times. But the place is still a healthy green! Also it has warmed up recently.

Anyway, news.

Well, I may sound like a broken record at this point, but the news is mostly that I did a bunch of writing. There was a co-written email chain and another short story, plus a small amount of editing. Then I celebrated by playing a ton of Overwatch for the last day or two, though now I have some "homework" I should get caught up on, such as moving the email chain into a document. So I'll do some of that this afternoon in amongst walks.

I saw Black Panther last Friday, and enjoyed it. It was beautiful both visually and aurally. It was fun to watch it knowing that it was important to many people around the world, because it portrayed an African nation that was prosperous and advanced. It was a fun movie in its own right, but this gave the experience even more cheer.

It's getting to be the final stretch of my stay here, so I should probably think about what I want to accomplish before I go. I've just been having so much fun with the writing that I haven't focused on much else. And I'm pretty happy with how I spent my time.

Catch you next week!

Fear of Flying

So last week I was in Penticton on a gaming bender, which is why I didn't have a blog update. Above, you can see Dabu, who was helping me make the hide-a-bed by sitting in the exact center of it when I wanted to put the sheets on. Thanks, cat!

So the trip to Penticton was, as I mentioned, a gaming bender. The weather was, by southern BC standards, apocalyptically cold. Like we're talking -5C sometimes. Even -10C at night. So lovely by Edmonton standards. But this was enough for us to justify staying in and playing our game for the entire time.

The trip to the airport to leave was a bit more stressful. We planned to leave early in order to have a lot of time, and we left half an hour even before *that* but the roads were terrible. There was a lot of snow and a lot of drivers unused to snow. This caused slow traffic in Kelowna and a serious traffic jam on the highway due to a collision.

Luckily, I made it just in time, and then the plane was delayed for half an hour, which allowed me to stretch my legs after the long car ride, which was nice.

It's funny how irrational our fears can be. Later that evening, our plane experienced some mild turbulence and I was thinking, as I tend to, "This is it; the wings are about to fall off and we're all going to die." And then I remembered the collision on the highway. Based on the damage, it's almost certain that someone was hurt. The drive to the airport was much more dangerous than the flight. This helped to put things into perspective.

Anyway, I'm glad Amber and Jason got home safely. I appreciate them driving out to Kelowna so I didn't have to sit in Calgary for 4 hr layovers on my trips between Victoria and Penticton...

As for the rest of my hobbies, the writing continues. It was a bit tricky to get back into things at first, because I started a new story before my trip and then a bunch of things happened in our game, and then I had to try and pick up the threads of what I'd started. But it is done now, and we're working on a collaborative bit for the next day or two.

Overwatch just announced a new hero named Brigitte. She's a mixture of a healer and a tank. She has a small shield to help keep her alive (she's fairly robust, actually), and then she can hit people with her flail, which makes her friends nearby heal. Because flails that heal people is how Overwatch rolls. :)

She looks fun anyway. Overwatch is about the gameplay more than the immersion, and the world has a bit of a Saturday-morning-cartoon feel to it.

I took a break from writing today to walk the dog and throw the ball for her in the sunshine. Life is good.

Guess What I Did This Week?

If you guessed "writing" you get points. Though not many of them, because this game was pretty easy. There was also a little bit of walking, playing games, and watching Overwatch League. In other words "same as I've been doing every week" so this may be a short update. :)

The image above is from Sunday's Munchkin game, where we mixed The Good, The Bad, And The Munchkin with Star Munchkin to have a space & western themed game. I lost both times by a lot, but I did get some style points on the second game, where I ended up as a space-cat dude with diamond cat teeth, riding another cat. With my beautiful assistant side-kick, of course, and just for good measure, some forged ID in order to get out of any troublesome situations. It wasn't quite as powerful as Mike's Bobaser Dazer With Unlimited Ammo, but it was still pretty cool.

Other bits of news: I had cold-like symptoms yesterday but they got better over the day and now I'm feeling alright. I am also caught up on Trollhunters, a show that Karen and Mark really like, so now we can watch them together. I went downtown on Saturday to eat breakfast, visit the nerd stores, and walk along the harbour.

Also, next week I'm flying out to Penticton to visit Amber and Jason. There are some restaurants to visit and some wine to drink, and we'll probably spend a good bit of our time pretending to be racing cars in the New Mexico desert while lobbing spells and grenades at enemy racers.

It's a good life.

I'll probably have a lot more news next week. For now, I exist and I type.

Another Day Another Daydream

On Tuesday, Dean's last day in Victoria, we went to Patisserie Daniel. They had a selection of chocolate treats (and other treats, but the chocolate ones were the ones that I cared about). This is their pain au chocolat, which was so good that I had to apologize to the people around me for not eating it in private.

I promise that Patisserie Daniel has not sponsored me or this message in any way. This is a sincere endorsement. :)

Other than that, I don't have a ton of news. I have been doing more writing.

...

That's about it.

Oh! Karen and I went to see The Last Jedi again, and confirmed that it was great fun (Disney has not sponsored me or this message either). I continue to enjoy the theme of nihilism in it, and how that theme relates to the deliberate referencing of the original films in the previous movie. I was entertained.

I suppose I also managed to get Overwatch playing acceptably well on my laptop once, and since then have been busy writing instead of playing it. I haven't even been keeping up with the Overwatch League, so no news there either. I'm currently in the middle of Philadelphia Fusion vs. Dallas Fuel still (the Fusion are winning 2-0 out of 4 so it's looking good as long as the Fuel don't tie it up). I'm sure some day I'll run out of writing to do, or I won't be in the mood, and I'll get around to finishing it.

Anyway, have a good week everyone. Maybe I'll have actual news next time. :)

The Financial Times

Another day, another $2502. Between a post on my building's forums and a letter I received recently, I have learned that Top of the Valley has decided that now is a great time to drop a special levy on us. Because I'm on vacation and unemployed. Thanks.

For added pizzazz, they want at least half of it on my actual birthday.

So I'm kinda grumpy right now. I get why it's needed I just wish it didn't have to be right now. My finances will still survive to the end of my vacation, but it's going to pull some of the buffer out, which doesn't *really* change anything other than make me more stressed and grumpy.

Anyway.

The writing is still going full-tilt, and the longer this continues the more I think that it may be time to consider the idea of doing it professionally. I've dallied about for 15 years avoiding my dream--and learned a lot and made money and friends and things, which is all good--but I think maybe now is the time to put some thought into making a writing career work. For example, all that money I made over the 15 years, while small compared to most middle class incomes, was invested well enough that I can live cheaply. I might be able to get a part-time job and keep the writing going.

It may not work out. I may end up rationalizing to myself that another few years of earning real money would make my dream even more achievable. Part of me thinks that's wise. The other part of me thinks that if I keep doing that enough times, I'll avoid living the dream entirely.

Sorry if my tone is still grumpy. I am just angry because the special levy makes this question more pertinent and less fun.

Anyway, I've got some time to figure this out yet, and now that my health is finally getting close to normal again, I should have a little more energy to put into it.

My life is otherwise great. Like I said, my health is getting back to normal, I'm still writing my face off, and the weather here is lovely, if a bit wet. I didn't see the super blood blue moon, but I did see the super blue moon really clearly. Next week I hope to have updates on cool things I've done other than "sat on a couch typing a lot." :)

Cheers.

Sea Air and Hills

Looks like it has been a couple of weeks since my first update. Part of my failure to update the blog last week may be down to laziness, though in my defence I have also been recovering from bronchitis and writing my face off, so I've been a mixture of mildly unwell and highly productive with other things. These are not excuses, as I don't feel particularly guilty, but as reasons they are pretty good.

So first of all the bronchitis recovery. I'm pretty sure the disease itself is long gone, and it's just the process of clearing up my lungs now. This is going slowly but seems to still be headed in the right direction. My energy levels have improved noticeably this week. Yesterday I walked to the store and back, and was a lot less wiped than I was on the same trip a couple of weeks ago. Today I went on a fairly long walk with the dog and am doing pretty well. I'm still noticing the limited lung capacity, but those limits are less severe than they were.

As for the writing, I seem to be over 35,000 words in the last few months, which is a pretty good volume. These aren't perfectly edited words, but they aren't just rough draft either, so that's a healthy productivity. I have another short story I'm working on that I would *like* to get done by tonight, though I don't think it's going to happen. If I can finish it off by Saturday, I'd say that's still winning, since Thursday is a little earlier than I'd normally be shooting for.

I haven't been doing much in the way of job searches or self-enrichment, though at least Karen and I made it out to the Royal BC Museum to see the First Nations exhibit. It was really interesting, with a large section on language activism, an amazing display of argillite carvings, and a neat buried-hut display. I think this confirms for me that I'd like to learn one of the languages. I'll need to do some research into which one.

In silly news, I'm really enjoying the Overwatch League (OWL), which is Blizzard's attempt at making a popular eSport out of Overwatch. I don't know if it will be successful, but I'm amused at least. Though they have so many games on right now I don't think I have the hours in the day to watch it all. I'm currently rooting for the Philadelphia Fusion for no good reason other than the fact I really like Shadowburn's Genji play (his Pharah is also really good). Though I also like Boston Uprising because they're underdogs who did really well against the Seoul Dynasty, who are probably the best team in the league right now. I admire Seoul too, for that reason. Also they have spiffy black uniforms which look really cool. :)

Anyway, I'm sure most of you reading this don't know most of what I'm talking about. But it's a thing that entertains me.

I'll aim to have another update next Thursday, provided I'm not nose-deep in a story like I was last week. Cheers!

Thursday, 11 January 2018

Okay, it's not my best picture ever, but at this point I'm still getting settled and willing to live with slap-dash work. :)

Travel went well. There was little turbulence--just a bit as we descended through the rain clouds over Victoria--and my ears didn't suffer that badly. The plug in my left ear didn't quite do its job, and I was mildly deaf in that ear after landing, but the right ear was fine and both are feeling good today.

I went to bed at midnight local time, which is biologically 11:00 pm, and still slept in this morning. I guess I needed the rest.

My lungs are still mildly sensitive from the bronchitis, and I noticed them when walking around the block last night. So I'm resolved to take it easy with the exercise.

I've been here for less than 24 hours yet already have put several of those hours into writing, so I feel like this is going to be a productive trip. At least productive in terms of wordcount, if not salable wordcount.

Everyone here seems happy to see me. About halfway through the walk around the block, Luna suddenly got a great big grin and love-tackled my legs. I think it finally sank in for her that I was back. She's been demanding pets and tummy rubs all day today, and I have indulged her frequently.

It's raining outside, which counts as "bad weather" around here. To be fair, I've been staying in, but the sound of the rain on the roof is pleasant.

I don't know what kind of schedule I'm going to have with this blog, but I'll try to post at least semi-regularly, like once a week, maybe. We'll see. I'll be in touch. :)

Check-In: 2016-03-31 (Thursday)

Diet: fruit, moderate sugar
Exercise: walking
Sleep: a bit short, though wake-up time was reasonable
Mindfulness: need to do some meditation
Spirit: walking in sunshine, games, visiting with friends, corresponding with family

I am starting to get settled into life in Edmonton again, a process that was thrown off a bit by my getting sick within a few days of arrival. In particular, this disrupted my sleep, which I am once again struggling to deal with. My plan is to get out of bed consistently in the morning and train myself to get tired at night again. I'm only a couple days into the plan so I'm pretty tired today. Hopefully tonight I'll be able to implement a midnight lights out and get to sleep by one or two.

I could use some meditation time, too, a practice I have fallen out of. I will try to get some in this afternoon.

Otherwise I'm doing pretty well. Good to see friends and family again. I'm currently gathering up tax documents to get them out of the way and looking into getting my car insurance lowered since I'm not commuting right now.

Of Wheat And Hayfever

Sorry for my long absence from the blog, but I have recently been hit with a wave of vegetative erotic activity--that is, plant pollen. For the majority of the past week, I have been getting hit with classic hayfever, including the sneezing, itchy throat and eyes, and immense lethargy. And this is while taking anti-histamine.

What's interesting about this is how long it has been since I have had bad allergies. I noticed that last year, I had much milder symptoms. I had also hypothesized that it might be the reduction in wheat that reduced my allergies, since my aunts have found other auto-immune disorders like arthritis were better on a low-wheat diet. And recently I have been eating a lot of wheat.

So for the last several days I have returned to a low-wheat diet, and lo, my symptoms have tamed themselves quite a bit. Now this is bad science, of course, because there is only one data point, no control group, and I am unable to control the variable of how much pollen is in the air. In fact, I don't even know how much pollen is in the air. It's possible that the season for poplar pollen has ended and that's why my symptoms have abated. But it is still one more datapoint suggesting that wheat somehow causes the immune system to go rampant.

So I'm going to stick to the philosophy of, "I don't know the science of the low-wheat diet, but I feel better when I am on it, so I will keep going with that."

Check-In: 2016-02-25 (Thursday)

Diet: fruit, vegetables, moderate sugar
Exercise: walking, swimming, chi kung breathing
Sleep: a bit late to bed, but good hours
Mindfulness: meditation, breathing
Spirit: meditation, breathing, walking in nature, sunshine, games, movies, friends, corresponding with family

One of the disadvantages--such as it is--to staying in a place where plants bloom in February is that some of these plants cause my immune system to go into complete fits. I think we're just coming up on poplar fluff season, which means the poplar trees are currently spraying their gametes over everything around them. So I suddenly find myself at the height of allergy season.

Fortunately I've been dosing myself with antihistamines which takes the edge off. Also, the frequent rains here do help keep the air clean on a regular basis.

Mark, Karen, and I watched the original Star Wars last night. It was interesting to compare and contrast to the new movie. In particular, I can see that the new movie copies the original even more than I thought, including the same arm on C3P0 being damaged. I wonder how the two movies compare on a beat-to-beat level--do they match timing as well as content?

I'm not sure this changes my opinion of the new movie, exactly. Sure, I'm less impressed with the new movie now, but the viewing strangely brought the original down a little as well. Something felt less magical about it than the last time I watched it. Sure, it is still a great, fun adventure flick, but it no longer makes me want to write "jedi" in response to my religion on a census form. Then again, it was always Empire that really brought the force to life, so we'll see what happens when we revisit that one.

I should probably write up a review of the new movie now that I've had a chance to meditate on it a little.

Check-In: 2016-02-22 (Monday)

Diet: fruit, vegetables, moderate sugar, moderate wheat
Exercise: walking, swimming, light yoga
Sleep: late to bed but well rested
Mindfulness: light yoga
Spirit: walking in nature, dog, friends, corresponding with family, old Star Trek, Star Wars, imagination, ASMR, digging a hole, contemplating the future

Looks like a bit list under Spirit lately. Maybe I'll dig into that since the other categories are maintaining the fairly consistent refrain of the past year.

So first up is dog. Dog--in this case, one named Luna--is an interesting experience because she is such an emotion mirror. She tends to reflect back at you what you are feeling, though she does have her own feelings occasionally of course. But it is easy to get her to go on a walk with you if you can express your own excitement at the idea, getting her all excited too. It is also very easy to calm her if you project your own calm. It's interesting to have this constant emotional reflection.

Karen and I are still making our way through season 1 of the old Star Trek shows, with Mark swinging by occasionally for his favourite bits (he has seen them all so many times he doesn't need to watch the whole show). I'm listing this mainly for its entertainment value, and for the fact that I have seen many of them, but so long ago I only remember fragments. We just watched the first appearance of Khan, so now I'm interested in following up with Wrath of Khan. Probably after the end of the original series.

We also saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens for a second time on Friday. It is a flawed show, and there is a split in the house as to whether or not these flaws are forgiveable or not, with me and Karen in the forgiveness camp and Mark and Karen's son, Brendan, being less forgiving. The show is, as Mark put it, just a game of moving some archetypes around, and I think he is right. It is not original in terms of its plot line. But I find that the plot is well executed at least, and I really enjoy the texture of the archetypes, if that makes sense. I like the way the archetypes are expressed, and I find that expression emotionally effective.

Regardless, my interest in the Star Wars franchise has been rekindled after being turned off for many years by prequel garbage. I am now daydreaming about lightsabers again, and this has generally led to a desire to do imaginative and creative things. Which is why I have decided to walk to a coffee shop where I can do a little bit of blogging and email clean-up in the interest of getting back into the writing role, even just as a hobby for a bit.

The phrase "digging a hole" is code for "playing Minecraft", a game in which a lot of time is spent punching trees to turn them into wood, using the wood to build picks, using picks to mine rocks and gold and diamonds, and all of the above to build a giant LEGOlian monstrosity. I'm current constructing a giant marble tower with an enchanting table at the top for making magic tools. It's pure entertainment, but does provide some creative outlet as well. I just need to make sure I don't disappear down the hole I've been digging there.

As for the future, I'm currently researching degree possibilities. I know I contemplated kinesiology last year, but my experiment with learning anatomy didn't go well, my interest instead being captured by tornadoes, meteorology, chaos theory, economics, French, artificial intelligence, and futurism in general. I'm beginning to think that I am more academic than I previously thought, and might enjoy a more academic career. To that end, I'm researching a little bit about Masters degrees. Though my list of mad schemes does still include the possibility of teaching Yoga in Edmonton for a bit--and these may not be contradictory schemes.

More on that later. For now, I need to go tidy my inbox and learn a little more about how Masters degrees even work.

Monday, 15 February 2016

Check-In: 2016-02-15 (Monday)

Diet: lots of vegetables and balanced meals, relatively low added sugar
Exercise: walking, yoga, chi kung, (swimming recently & later today)
Sleep: good hours, sometimes late to bed but returned to a reasonable hour today
Mindfulness: yoga, chi kung, meditation
Spirit: friends, running with a dog, walking in nature, love & acceptance exercises, Star Wars

New format again! This time incorporating a lot of an old format, but with some tweaks. I find I really like breaking things down like this because each of these elements are such an important role in my well-being. As for tweaks, I've first of all taken away the judgmental pass/fail element, since that seems to turn into an exercise in guilt, which isn't helpful. Instead, I'm just listing things I have done recently that contribute to the category, emphasizing the positive, because I really liked that aspect of the old format.

I have also changed "love and support" to "spirit" because I have been contemplating things of a pseudo-spiritual nature a lot lately and I want somewhere to track it, and I think this overlaps nicely with the positive feelings I get from social connection.

The pseudo-spiritual things I have been contemplating are generally of an intuitive nature. For example, it is apparently quite good for our mental health to walk in nature, especially when there are trees, and I find that my intuition is aware of this. That is, if I go out into the woods here and meditate a little bit, I can tell that the presence of the trees is pleasurable and stimulating yet calming. Similarly, Mark talks metaphorically about "house spirits". For example, when the fire is going and Karen and I are reading near it while the dog is curled up on the carpet chewing on a bone, he says that this makes the house spirits happy. Basically, I think we have a long evolutionary history of things that feel good emotionally, such as family, friends, warmth, trees, fresh air, clean kitchens... whatever. This all fits under the category of Spirit in this case (in the previous check-in I believe I called it Magic--which means I probably keep re-explaining these ideas... let's call that "drill").

As for what I've been doing, the walking has continued, of course. I'm still doing 15,000 steps a day, which is a nice pace for me. I could do more, but 15k feels balanced along with the other exercise and my other interests. The swimming has been continuing, though we only attend Monday to Thursday.

I've also been doing "sympathy yoga" so that when Mark is at pilates, I'm doing some exercise as well. I'm not batting 100% on that, but then it isn't necessary to--it's important for me to exercise the amount that I need, not the amount that Mark needs. Having said that, I am enjoying the chance to play with yoga and chi kung again.

I had an interesting experience the other day with my lungs. I did some stairs the other night in an attempt to get 50 "staircases" (my new Fitbit can measure vertical distances). I only got to 49 before midnight came and the target reset. In the attempt, however, I activated my exercise-induced asthma, which manifests as a feeling like my lungs have been lightly seared in a frying pan. As an experiment, I tried doing some chi kung breathing exercises, including lifting the sky and carrying the moon. I found that the symptoms very rapidly disappeared, and also that I felt great in general, from nose stuffiness to body aches going away as well. Since then, I've been practicing those exercises a lot more, and I have fallen in love with them again.

On Friday night Mark, Karen, and I met with Leslie and Bruce for dinner. Leslie is a prof from when Mark and I were at Macewan, and Bruce is her partner. Leslie is here for a year on sabbatical, living in a boat at the harbor and writing a book. They are both odd people, in a good way, the way that smart people can be delightfully odd. We are going to visit bookstores and bakeries on Wednesday.

On Saturday I went to the Café Croissant put on by L'Alliance Française, listened to some conversation in French (I didn't have the ability to participate much, but I could keep up with most of it just listening), then walked downtown to a restaurant called Floyd's Diner for some food and to read some Astérix, then walked to a movie theatre to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens. My thoughts on this are somewhat complicated, but generally speaking I really enjoyed it. Nice to see that the Star Wars franchise is making Star Wars movies again, instead of poorly written Muppet Show movies.

Anyway, Mark is going to pilates soon, so I will go prepare for some sympathy yoga.

Check-In: 2016-02-03 (Wednesday)

Stamina: medium / half-full
Focus: medium / full
Magic: medium / full

I seem to be tired again today. Then again, I'm back into the swimming cycle. Mark and I did the deep water aquafit on Monday and just regular swimming last night, plus our usual step amounts (Mark also did his Pilates).

Yesterday I was able to get Windows 10 installed on my laptop in preparation for getting Unity installed on it. I don't think I'll do more on that today since I'm feeling pretty tired, but maybe I will get to it tomorrow.

Poor Luna the dog has been unwell for several days now, having some trouble with keeping her food down. She still seems reasonably peppy all things considered, but I do hope she starts to feel well soon.

On a more positive note, L'Alliance Française here is having a Café Croissant this Saturday. I may try to drop in for some additional French practice. And since I didn't do any French reading yesterday, it would be good if I could do some more of that today.

Sorry for the lacklustre report. I'm just a little pooped from the swimming. Though my body seems to be getting faster at recovering from the exercise. Aquafit is just that much more intense. My mood is quite good.
